The Munster Mustangs secured a 17–14 victory over Kankakee Valley on Friday night, concluding their regular season with a decisive performance in the Northwest Crossroads Conference.
The game was held on October 17 at Kankakee Valley High School. The weather conditions were favorable, providing a suitable setting for a competitive match that extended to the final minutes.
According to the match details, after a scoreless first quarter, Munster took the lead in the second quarter with two rushing touchdowns, establishing a 14–0 advantage by halftime. Kankakee Valley responded in the second half through running back Jaidyn Anderson, who scored twice on short runs, leveling the score at 14–14 early in the fourth quarter.
With six minutes remaining, Munster advanced deep into Kougar territory and concluded their drive with a 30-yard field goal to reclaim the lead. Their defense maintained its strength in the final moments by forcing a turnover on downs within their own red zone, ensuring their win.
The victory highlighted Munster’s resilience and ability to perform under pressure as they prepare for postseason play.
Next up for the Mustangs is the Class 5A state tournament beginning on October 24. Their opponent has yet to be determined.
