Munster defeated Kankakee Valley 67–49 in a conference road victory, pulling away over the final three quarters to secure the league win.
The game was played Jan. 9 at Kankakee Valley High School in Wheatfield, Indiana.
The Mustangs set the tone early, building a 15–5 lead after the first quarter and taking a 27–18 advantage into halftime. Kankakee Valley showed flashes in the third quarter behind interior scoring from Zack Mikash and steady perimeter shooting from Van Kooistra and Luke Ehrhardt, cutting into the margin with a pair of 3-pointers and strong drives to the basket. Munster responded with efficient half-court execution, extending the lead to double digits by the end of the period and maintaining control with disciplined defense.
In the fourth quarter, Munster continued to separate by converting at the free-throw line and finishing in transition, while limiting Kankakee Valley’s second-chance opportunities. The Mustangs’ ability to answer every Kougar run prevented any sustained momentum shift and allowed them to close out the 18-point win.
Up next, Munster will travel to face Hobart at 7 p.m. on Jan. 23 in a conference matchup.
The two teams last met Jan. 24, when Munster defeated Hobart 67–52 at home.
