Munster High School’s girls basketball team secured a 35–30 victory over Andrean, marking an early-season conference win with a consistent performance in the second half.
The game took place on Thursday, November 20, at Munster High School in Munster, Indiana. The Mustangs maintained parity early in the game, entering the second quarter tied at 4–4. They then outscored Andrean 7–5 in the second quarter and 12–11 in the third. Munster completed the game with 11 field goals on 28 attempts and went 8-of-11 from the free-throw line. Arroya Mongerie contributed five points on 50% shooting, while freshman Emi Tioco added three points on 75% shooting and successfully made both of her free throws. The Mustangs hit five three-pointers and recorded 15 assists, demonstrating effective ball movement while limiting Andrean to nine first-half points. In the fourth quarter, Munster scored 12 points to maintain their lead.
Looking ahead, Munster’s girls basketball team will travel to Gary West Side for a non-conference matchup scheduled for Friday, December 6 at 6 p.m., as they aim to build on their home victory momentum.
The previous encounter between these teams occurred last season when Andrean defeated Munster with a score of 48–39 on January 3. This year’s result provided the Mustangs an opportunity to reverse last season’s outcome and secure an early statement win.
