Munster dropped a 73–38 decision to Rensselaer Central in a varsity girls basketball nonconference matchup.
The game took place Jan. 6, 2026, at Munster High School.
Munster faced an uphill battle as Rensselaer Central built separation early and continued to extend the margin throughout the contest. The Mustangs worked to settle into their offensive sets and rotate defensively but struggled to slow the tempo as the game progressed. Despite the score, Munster continued to compete and rotate players while looking for consistency on both ends of the floor.
Arroya Mongerie led Munster with 10 points, providing interior scoring and physical play in the paint. Elena Dovellos followed with eight points, while Kayla Cipowski added five points with efficient touches around the basket. Jaslynn Sanchez contributed three points and helped facilitate ball movement, and Kenley Smith chipped in three points while handling defensive responsibilities on the perimeter. Deni Staehly added two points off the bench, and I. Jarrett provided energy in limited minutes.
Munster also saw action from Addison Smitka, Emi Tioco, Hazel Lukas, I. Odeluga, and Amelia Ramirez as the Mustangs continued to evaluate lineups and gain experience against a strong opponent.
Munster will return to action Jan. 17 when it hosts Kankakee Valley at 7 p.m.
The previous meeting between Munster and Kankakee Valley came Jan. 18, when Munster earned a 45–27 road win.
