Munster finished third as a team at the IHSAA Girls Sectional D3 held at Illiana Christian.
The sectional took place Jan. 2 at Illiana Christian High School.
Munster totaled 170 team points and advanced multiple wrestlers through strong individual performances across the weight classes. Alice Gill led the Mustangs with a sectional championship at 120 pounds, earning 26 points for the team. Allyson Compton followed with a second-place finish at 170 pounds, adding 19.5 points, while Amelia Andriessen (100) and Sophia Flores (105) each placed third, scoring 15 and 16 points respectively.
Additional podium finishes came from Karibella Rodriguez at 125 pounds (third, 18 points), Bobbie Uidl at 130 pounds (fourth, 11.5 points), Lilliana Whitmire at 140 pounds (fourth, 14 points), Chimdindu Aronu at 190 pounds (fourth, 14 points), and Vayda Chismar at 235 pounds (fifth, 10 points). Jocelyn Cabrera (110) and Mia Jimenez (155) each added fifth-place finishes, contributing valuable points to the team total.
Munster’s depth across the lineup played a key role in the third-place finish as the Mustangs consistently scored throughout the tournament.
Munster will compete next at the Girls State Finals on Jan. 16 at 3 p.m. at IHSWCA.
