Munster High School’s varsity football team dropped its second straight game Friday, falling 58–20 on the road at Griffith. Combined with a 45–28 loss to Lake Central in the opener, the Mustangs now sit at 0–2 and are searching for answers ahead of their conference schedule.
The Mustangs showed offensive flashes, scoring three touchdowns behind a balanced mix of runs and short passes. However, turnovers and stalled drives limited their ability to keep pace. Griffith took advantage of those mistakes, striking quickly to extend their lead and keeping Munster under pressure all night.
Defensively, Munster struggled against Griffith’s up-tempo attack. The Mustangs’ front line faced difficulty in pass rush situations, and coverage breakdowns in the secondary led to repeated big plays. Despite occasional stops, the defense could not slow the Bears’ momentum.
While the early record is not favorable, Munster has shown glimpses of potential, particularly in offensive rhythm during their scoring drives. Cleaning up execution and limiting mistakes will be crucial if the Mustangs hope to rebound as NCC play begins. Their next test will provide an opportunity to reset and chase their first win of the season.
