Head coach Romison St-Louis said Munster’s offense is ahead of where it was a year ago.
“Offensively, mentally we are light years ahead of last year,” St-Louis said. “We rarely have mistakes with routes or assignments. The kids understand the scheme much better.”
He credited returning skill players for that growth. “Physically we’re still working, especially on the line, but mentally we’re much farther along,” St-Louis said.
Schassburger said his perspective has changed as well. “The game has slowed down for me,” he said. “Before, I’d just throw to the open guy. Now I’m reading defenses before the snap. We worked on it all offseason with QB U, even teaching younger players.”
St-Louis said the defense is also on track. “I’m a defensive guy at heart,” he said. “We emphasize being in our gaps and doing things right. We’ve got returners stepping up.”
Richards said the defense is focused on disguising coverages. “We’ll show one thing before the snap and switch after,” he said. “We want to keep quarterbacks guessing.”
