Junior defender Zion Richards says his leadership role has expanded this season.
“Last year I had a big role, but this year it’s even more important,” Richards said. “I’m a junior now with varsity experience, so I have to step up and show by example.”
Richards said Munster’s defensive culture is built around three core values. “Physical, movement and discipline,” he said. “Every day we break out with one of those words. I’m making sure everyone gets that in their head so we play that way.”
Head coach Romison St-Louis said Richards’ commitment stands out. “He’s a good example of how we want players to lead,” St-Louis said. “It’s not just about talking, it’s about doing.”
Schassburger said leadership on both sides of the ball matters. “We’ll pull teammates aside, talk about mistakes and make corrections,” he said. “That’s how we grow.”
Richards said the defense is ready to show improvement. “We’re disguising coverages and mixing blitzes,” he said. “We want to keep offenses guessing and play physical football.”
